Maintenance Treatments at Muscle Medicine Double Bay

Just like you see the dentist to keep your teeth healthy or the GP for regular check-ups, your soft tissue health deserves the same care. At Muscle Medicine Double Bay, we offer Maintenance Treatments (also called Life Care Treatments) to keep your muscles and fascia functioning at their best, even when you’re not in pain.

A maintenance massage is all about prevention and long-term wellness. It’s a way to address everyday tightness, stiffness and fatigue before they develop into bigger issues. Our expert therapists tailor each session to your lifestyle and activity level, using advanced techniques to keep your body moving freely and feeling its best.

Why Maintenance Treatments Matter

Your body’s soft tissues; muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments are constantly under stress from daily movement, posture and activity, as well as inactivity. Even without injury or high levels of pain, they can develop tension and imbalances that affect your performance and wellbeing.

A maintenance massage at Muscle Medicine in Double Bay can help to:

  • Relieve muscle stiffness and everyday tightness
  • Support flexibility and mobility
  • Prevent small niggles from becoming injuries or causing compensatory issues and complications
  • Improve recovery from exercise or training
  • Promote relaxation and reduce physical stress

Is This Treatment Right for You?

You may benefit from a maintenance massage if you:

  • Have no specific injury or pain above 4/10 on the pain scale
  • Want to stay proactive about your body’s health and function
  • Train or exercise regularly and need support for recovery
  • Spend long hours at a desk or repeating the same movements
  • Simply want to feel lighter, looser and more balanced

If you’re experiencing pain above 4/10, or a specific injury or dysfunction, our team will recommend booking a Deep Tissue Massage in Double Bay or a Structural Integration session instead.

How Our Maintenance Treatments Work

Each session is customised to your needs. Your therapist may draw from a range of techniques including:

  • Deep Tissue Massage (for muscle tension)
  • Myofascial Release (to address fascia restrictions)
  • Trigger Point Therapy (for specific tight spots)
  • Stretching and mobility work

The goal isn’t just short-term relief, it’s long-term care to keep your body functioning at its best.

Yes, this treatment is suitable for both new and existing clients who want to maintain their overall wellbeing.
If I am in pain should I book this treatment?

If your pain is less than 4/10 then a maintenance treatment can help to provide relief and direction on how to maintain a pain free body.

If you classify your pain as greater than 4/10 we would recommend you book a Deep Tissue or Structural Integration Appointment.

Do I need to see the same therapist all the time?

No, our therapists leave comprehensive notes in our CRM system, so each of the therapists can see your history and the treatments you have had previously.

The treatment will differ between therapists, as their styles differ, but the focus will remain the same – providing you what your body needs.
